This well-maintained, 503-square-metre villa is situated on a beautiful, rustic piece of land totalling approximately 20 hectares. Built with traditional and selected materials in a style typical of Alentejo country houses, the property features: a guest house, an adjoining main house, a swimming pool and covered outdoor dining areas.
The grounds and the pool in front offer magnificent views over the idyllic Alentejo countryside. The swimming pool measures 12 by 4 metres and is surrounded by wooden decking, flagstones and olive trees..
The guest house has 4 double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Two of the bathrooms are equipped with bathtubs, the other two with showers. All rooms have built-in wardrobes and each has separate access to the outside area.
A corridor connects the rooms and leads to a reception area adjacent to a large, shared living room with fireplace, ideal for relaxing or group activities.
From the living room, a small staircase leads down to the communal kitchen, which is equipped with a microwave, oven and dishwasher. Individual tables are available for guests’ meals.
The kitchen opens onto a veranda at the front of the house with views of the pool and countryside. This outdoor area is very popular for breakfast and meals or to enjoy the Alentejo sunsets.
The main house offers the option of living on the property but separated from the guest houses. It has an entrance hallway leading to a cosy living room with fireplace. A second hallway leads to a guest bathroom and office space to the right.
The master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and another guest bedroom are located on the east side of the property.
A fully fitted kitchen with top of the range appliances is located to the right of the entrance hall and leads to a separate dining area.
The property has a class B energy certificate. The thick taipa (mud) walls provide good insulation in both hot and cold weather. The entire house is covered by a multi-layered roof. Different materials, including a 20-centimetre-thick insulation layer, help to keep the temperature comfortable all year round. The upper layer of the roof is made of tiles and the lower layer of bamboo canes, typical of the traditional construction of Alentejo houses.
The property has a well that ensures the water supply, as well as a reserve tank with a capacity of 25,000 litres . The hot water supply is provided by a solar system; an own biogas plant is also part of the offer; this heats the house in the short winter months and gives a pleasant feeling of well-being.
In the surrounding area, various leisure activities are possible, such as horse riding, bird watching, canoeing, visiting vineyards or simply relaxing on the river beach Tapada Grande, which is only a short drive away.
The town of Serpa, with all the necessary amenities, is 20 minutes away and the Algarve can be reached in less than 90 minutes. Faro International Airport is a 2-hour drive away.
The property is fully licensed to operate as a holiday let, but would also be ideal to become your holiday or primary residence in the beautiful Alentejo.
